CapMaster I & II

There are two CapMaster versions. CapMaster I is a reversible, single-motor benchtop device meant for batch-wise cryovial uncapping or decapping operations that can make quick work of repetitive tasks involving a large number of vials. This device is compact and light weight, and can be used on the benchtop or in a biological safety cabinet. Normal speed is about 300 to 350 rpm, but it can be continuously adjusted from approximately 50 up to a maximum of about 500 rpm.

CapMaster II is an expanded version with two motors working in opposite directions which can be operated singly to perform batch operations like version I, and also together which enables continuous sampling procedures. A central holder between the two motors is provided to hold the sample vial while pipetting. Also see the LabCap shown to the right which provides another approach to convenient sample processing.

LabCap

The LabCap is a small, inexpensive, hand-held device designed to provide an efficient semi-automated cap removal and replacement system without requiring the repetitive twisting of caps by hand. LabCap is powered by a rechargeable battery to provide for convenient operation without requiring a permanent connection to an external power source. This system consists of a power handle, 3 vial cap interfaces, a storage plate to hold the power head and interfaces, and a 5V AC/DC adapter plug with a USB cable for recharging.

A stand is included which enables mounting the LabCap on the bench and is especially convenient for multiple sample analyses. Using the stand enables continuous sampling by using one hand to hold and uncap vials with minimal exposure time of the uncapped sample, and no risk of cross-contamination from mixing caps, while the other hand is used to pipet the samples.
